Project initiation is the first phase in every project. At this stage the fundamental questions that impact the entire project have to be answered:

• Who are the key stakeholders and what do they see as their role in the project?
• What is their perspective of what the project is all about?
• Are they prepared to commit resources to the project?
• What are the expectations of the outcome?
• What does the project deliver?

The cause of many project failures can be traced back to the early days of the
project. Hence, it's of high importance to spend some time and energy putting all things together during the project initiation phase.
